According to UPI news agency, a geologist found fossil leg bones late last year, analyzing it as a Dare wolf. This species has relatives of gray wolves, living in North and South America for over 1 million years.

Professor Josh Bonde, who discovered the fossil, said wolf Dare used to have a wide range of habitats in North America and South Canada but this is the first time to find evidence of their presence in Nevada. Scientists estimate that this fossil is about 10,000 - 15,000 years ago. Dare wolves are thought to be extinct about 10,000 years ago, the end of the Pleistocene period. Recently in northwest Las Vegas, find fossils of wildcats with teeth like curved blades.

At the end of the Pleistocene, this land has a warm spring, swampy areas with abundant plant resources that are ideal for herbivores and then become prey of predators.
