Detection of genes associated with crime

Decoding genes in criminals, Swedish scientists have discovered two types of gene mutations that are closely related to aggressive action.

Mutations occur in genes called MAOA , which is responsible for controlling dopamine hormone activity, but its excessive activity encourages aggression.

A second mutation known to occur in the CDH13 gene can cause neurological abnormalities and impulses.

In gene surveys on 800 criminals and compared with 2,000 genetic samples in normal people, scientists believe that up to 10% of criminals can be committed by the two mutations.

However, the authors argue that more research is needed before providing effective treatment programs.
