Ho Chi Minh City: Detection of large software piracy
Yesterday morning (April 20), Inspectorate of the Ministry of Culture and Information, in coordination with the Crime of Economic Crime and position, found a large software piracy facility at the Informatics Trade Center Ti Tan.
Ti Tan Trade Informatics Center.
At 9.15 'on April 20, authorities conducted a test of the Informatics Trade Center Ti Tan, at 410B-CD Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Ward 5, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
Here, testers discovered hundreds of new computers installed with non-copyrighted software for sale on the market. These computers also install popular Microsoft software such as Windows XP, Microsoft Office. etc.
The authorities are searching and inspecting computers at Ti Tan Shopping Center.
Currently, it is not possible to determine the exact number of computers that install pirated software, but the number is certainly up to hundreds. The authorities are still conducting inspections at the Ti Tan Informatics Trade Center .
Along with the forms of propaganda and education on respect of copyright, the inspection and sanctioning of establishments using pirated software are also being strengthened by the authorities and the Government of Vietnam. , to repel the rampant software piracy situation today.
However, there is a reality that needs to recognize the authenticity. When the average annual income per capita of Vietnam (about over USD 600) is lower than the price of a Windows XP Profesional operating system software (over 300 USD) with Microsoft Office office suite 2003 (over $ 400) installed on a PC, financial pressure will force users to think of a solution to buy and use pirated software for less than $ 1.

It can be clearly seen that, without the self-consciousness of each user, and especially the support of large software manufacturing enterprises like Microsoft, efforts to prevent copyright infringement in Vietnam will still be an unsolvable problem.
