Discover a star with 5 planets

American astronomers say they have discovered a new planet orbiting the star orbit 55 Cancri located 41 light-years from Earth. This discovery brought the total number of planets orbiting this star to 5.

With this discovery, 55 Cancri, located in the constellation of the Crab (the fourth bow of the Zodiac), becomes the most planetary star discovered outside the Solar System.

According to astronomers, the newly discovered planet is a gas planet, weighing 45 times the weight of Earth. If the planet has a moderate surface temperature, one or more rocky moons revolve around, theoretically, it may have liquid water.

They also said the new planetary system is five times more massive than the Solar System and has many similarities with the Earth: planets orbiting a parent star have the same mass and 'age' as the Sun; there is a planet that is four times heavier than Jupiter and in orbit similar to Jupiter.

It is unclear whether this planetary system has a rocky planet like Earth or Venus. According to Professor Geoff Marcy - of the University of California, Berkeley, head of the research team - there is a need for technology and time to answer this question.

So far, astronomers have discovered more than 250 planets outside the Solar System. In addition to Cancri 55 establishes a 'record' of the number of planets, only one has four planets orbiting the rest, most of them have 2-3 planets.
