Discover gems similar to diamonds and emeralds

A sensational discovery was made by Russian scientists in Ural. They find a strange gemstone, which has an unmatched attribute to diamonds and emeralds. The world used to have a long time did not believe in the existence of this mineral, but Russian geologists have proved that they have reason.

Mariinskit - the name of the new mineral - is found in the world's largest Mariinsky emerald mine in Sverdlovsk province in the Urals region. The formulation of this mineral is simple: BeCr 2 O 4 , a very rare stone, because the mined minerals now have a much more complex formula. In an interview with the "Voice of Russia" interview, Mikhail Popov, a senior researcher at the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences explained:

'Only about 7-8 years ago, physicists and chemists confirmed that in this area there are no stable natural minerals. When we discovered this mineral, they didn't believe it. But sometimes nature gives us such surprises. That shows that nature of nature has not yet been studied by science ".

The strange mineral form is brought by a graduate student to the scientist. He took this stone from the wells dug in Mariinsky mine, they happened to discover that stone from the 80s of the last century. After studying strange minerals, scientists have confirmed its unique properties. Russian expert continued:

'This mineral has all the properties of gems. It is rare, found at two mines, with a high hardness of 8.5, equivalent to the alexandrite, a bright green like emerald, with a high sparkle like diamond. Its disadvantage is that the volume is quite small (only 0.2 - 0.5mm). When there is a big stone, it can be said as a gemstone ".

Mariinskit is contained in special ore pieces called chromium . In impurities there are many scales of precious materials, but very small. "In it there are many precious mineral pieces, as dense as sesame seeds in baked goods," said Mikhail Popov. But if larger mineral particles can be found, jewelry makers will have an unprecedented gem. Now scientists are examining the Bazenovskoye field near the Mariinsky mine. The first result was that they found that Mariinskit tablets were larger than 0.5mm. According to Ural, the study of mineral samples in the mineral museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow also allows hope:

'Our colleague from the Fersmana Museum examined the old stone samples that were exploited in the Mariinsky mine from the time of the Tsar, in 1908. There were larger strange stone scales there. We continue to explore. "

If you can find 2-3mm size stones, we can talk about the ability to grind stones. But in that case, the product volume is still extremely small, because when processing, natural materials will be lost about 60% of volume. The exploration of this rare gem is still ongoing at the Mariinsky mine. The search was started in April 1834 in the farmer's barley field, after discovering the emerald there. This quarry is unique. Scientists estimate that mine reserves exceed 60 tons of emeralds. In addition, there are more than 11 million tons of beryllium ore, 6 million tons of ore contain elements such as cesium, lithium and rubidium.
