According to a reporter in Latin America, the January 16 statement of STRI said the animals flew high at night and flew faster than other bats because their wings were quite narrow.
Freeman Bats have a scientific name Cynomops Freemani , found in the Gamboa rainforest, 32km from Panama City, the capital of Panama. The animal was named after researcher Patricia Freeman, because she spent most of her career learning about the Molossidae family (bat-tail), which includes subspecies of bat-faced bats.
Meanwhile, another new dog-faced bat was discovered by experts from the Ecuadorian Catholic University, taking the name Waorani and scientific name Cynomops Tonkigui to honor the Waorani Indian tribe, living in the Amazon jungle, in eastern Ecuador.
