" I pay close attention to the outstanding and beautiful spots and stripes of the bat ," said DeeAnn Reeder, associate professor of biology at Bucknell University . It is clearly a very strange animal that I have never seen before. From the moment I saw it, I knew this was a discovery for life.

After returning to America, Ms. Reeder initially determined that the bat of the same species as the one captured in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1939 was named Glauconycteris superba (multicolored bat). However, later, she and her colleagues did not think it was the same as other bats in the Glauconycteris family.

Ms. Reeder said, after thoroughly analyzing the characteristics of wings, size, ears . it is clear that this bat is not a species that it has been classified. She thinks it's unique to the name of a new species.

Ms. Reeder, a colleague at the Smithsonian Institution and Islamic University in Uganda, placed this panda bat in a new species called Niumbaha . This word means rare and unusual in the Zande language of the Azande in Equatoria region - where the bat is found.
