Discover new poisonous snakes in Vietnam
Three scientists from the Vietnam Museum of Nature and Saint Petersbourg Animal Institute, Russia have discovered and published a new poisonous snake for science.
This new snake species is described in the Russian Journal of Herpetology, Volume 20, No. 2.2013, based on comparative evidence of morphology and bone structure with other snake species of the same species recorded in Vietnam and China. .
Specimens of newly collected species in Cao Bang, Lang Son and Vinh Phuc, at an altitude of 800m to 1.800m. The new species is named Azemiops kharini , according to Russian zoologist Vladimir Kharin.
This is the second serpent snake species of the genus Azemiops and the 60th venomous snake among more than 210 snake species recorded in Vietnam. This new finding shows that the area of Vietnam snake system is still interesting.
