This is the first time that science has recorded two scorpions with vorhiesi living in the same mountain. This research has been published in widely accessible magazines - Zookeys.
Vaejovis brysoni, the newly discovered scorpion species in the United States
Most surprising is that in the middle of the 21st century there are still new species discovered right in the United States. Even more surprising is that people find them in a large urban area.
For more than 50 years, only four species of mountain scorpions are known from Arizona states. That number has more than doubled in the past six years with a total of 10 species discovered. All of them belong to the same group. Arizona is known for its habitat of isolated mountains in the desert and is called the Sky Islands. This is where many new species are found.
"This new scorpion is a good example of the great variety of life that is still being discovered, right in the mid-21st century America , " Richard F. Ayrey, a scientific researcher for know.
