Discover new species in Danang

Scientists have just announced a new species in the survey at Ba Na National Park - Nui Chua.

The new species is the Riep Vietnam , scientific name Alocasia vietnamensis VD Nguyen & de Kok.

According to the website of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), Vietnamese wax has rhizomes and stalks only as long as 1/4 leaf stalks, ivory-white moats, they have the same characteristics as the evrard (Alocasia evrardii Gagnep. Ex VD Nguyen) because the appendages of both species have stalks.

Earlier, in the research program between the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources and the Royal Kew Botanical Garden, England in the area of ​​Ba Na - Nui Chua National Park in 2008, Dr. Nguyen Van Du collected it. Samples of the live species on woody plants. After comparison, the scientific group concluded that this is a new species.
