Discover new species of gecko in Vietnam

A new species of gecko discovered in Khanh Hoa province has just been published in Zootaxa magazine. Accordingly, this gecko is similar to the Gekko canaensis rock gecko.

Currently the new gecko species has the scientific name Gecko Gekko truongi . The name of this reptile is named after TS. Nguyen Quang Truong - Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources. He has made many contributions in the field of amphibian reptile research in Vietnam.

The gecko is small in size, the head length is 95.9mm. The head and back are brown alternating 5 - 9 pale green spots. Along the sides, there are 6-9 white lines between the front and hind legs. In males, there are 11 - 16 holes before grave . This species often lives in the rock boulders in the coastal forests of the Eastern tip of Ninh Hoa district - Khanh Hoa. This species usually works at night to get food.
