For the first time, two species of lizards were found only in Vietnam

Both of these lizard species belong to the Gecko family (Gekkonidae), Cyrtodactylus variety, found in Ba Den mountain area (Tay Ninh). BA Nguyen Ngoc Sang (Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Tropical Biology) was the first to discover and collect samples.

Sang and two Russian reptile - amphibian experts Nikolai L. Orlov and Ilya S. Darevsky (St. Petersburg Animal Institute) described and named these two species.

The species Cyrtodactylus nigriocularis has a local name as a dwarf and Cyrtodactylus badenensis is called a lizard. Both of these species live in caves or cliffs and are recorded at an altitude of 100-500m.

The stripe lizard has white markings on the back and tail, the head is golden brown and lives on the cliff. The horns have big eyes and are black. Compared to barbed lizards, stunts are larger in size and harder to find because they often live deep in the cave. Normally the body is brown, however the color of the body can also be changed depending on the lighting and living conditions.

The findings are published in the Russian scientific journal of reptiles - amphibians (Russian Journal of Herpetology) No. 3, Episode 13, 2006. According to the experts, these two species of lizards are completely New and previously not found anywhere else. This new discovery shows that Ba Den Mountain is unique not only in culture - history but also in biodiversity. So this place needs to be preserved and preserved.
