Discover the mummy of cats when repairing the house
A British couple while repairing the house happened to find a cat's mummy that they thought was there more than 100 years ago.
The embalmed cat is surprisingly well preserved with its tail, claws, beard and teeth in perfect condition.
Melanie and the mummy of the cat
Melanie and Ian Bruce found the cat's mummy beneath the floor near the entrance of the coastal town of South Shields, Tyne and Wear county, England. They believe that this mummy may have existed since the time of Queen Victoria, who reigned in June 1837 - January 1901.
After discovering the cat's mummy, the couple "conferred" the cat 'Tutan-cat-mun' and said it would keep it in the house.
The owner of the house also thought of displaying the cat's mummy in a glass case so that everyone could see it. Melanie said: 'It reminds me of Egypt and that's why we gave it this name .'.
According to Melanie, the cat can be embalmed by the previous owner of the house to prevent evil spirits. At the same time, Melanie thinks this cat mummy will bring her luck.
In ancient Egyptian culture, cats were revered animals and played an important role in society as well as religion. Some people are also allowed to perform the ritual of mummifying after death like humans.
