Discover the Roman arena in Austria
Archaeologists have discovered the ruins of a Roman arena in Austria - where the gladiators live in a small room just enough to become themselves and often fight to death for fun for the audience.
About 1,700 years ago, Carnuntum was part of a city of 50,000 people about 45 km east of Vienna.
Using radar, archaeologists discovered an arena in the ground. At the martial arts practice place of the gladiators, they discovered the ruins of a thick wooden pillar, where young fighters practiced stabbing day and night.

Thick walls surround an archaeological site of 11,000 square meters; The 19-meter-wide martial arts area has a wooden chair surrounded and a platform for coaches. This complex consists of 40 narrow bedrooms for gladiator, a large bath area, a training room .
According to the image that radar detected, outside the walls was a graveyard for the dead during practice.
'The gladiator martial arts training school is a combination of barracks and prisons. The gladiators are often criminals, prisoners and slaves , 'said Roemisch-Germanisches Zentral Museum representative (one of the agencies involved in the discovery and evaluation of the archaeological site of the arena). Boxers who survive the bloody slashes will be hailed and may be released.
The authorities have not decided when to unearth the martial arts training complex and fight to death in Austria.
