Discover the secret bases of the Soviet Union
Nuclear and biological research centers, underground naval bases, high-powered radar stations and the first accelerator are all the most secretive places of the Soviet Union.
Large particle accelerator near Moscow
In the 1980s, the Soviet Union launched a project to manufacture large particle accelerators. A 21 km long tunnel was built at the Protvino science center in Moscow. This tunnel is located at a depth of 60 m.

However, when the Soviet Union disintegrated in 1991, this project was never completed. Scientists still preserve this accelerator to keep the best and wait someday to restart this ambitious project.
Sura electromechanical heating station
Initially, Sura Electrolytic Heating Station was built in the Nizhny Novgorod region to serve military purposes. Here, new methods to intervene and use weather as weapons are studied.

But in 1977, the United Nations passed a resolution prohibiting complete studies of methods of intervention and use of weather as weapons. After this resolution was issued, Sura station only performed the task of researching the ionosphere.
R-12 Dvina missile cellar
This abandoned R-12 Dvina ballistic missile is located in what is now Latvia. The R-12 Dvina missile has a range of 300 km to 3,500 km and is capable of equipping thermonuclear warheads with megaton power.
The R-12 Dvina missile tunnel in Latvia is now abandoned.
The missile contains four R-12 missile launchers. The R-12 Dvina rocket is named after Latvia's largest river and is a missile involved in the Cuban missile crisis in 1962.
Soviet virus center in Zagorsk-6
The Soviet virus center in Zagorsk-6 is known as the Soviet biological and biological weapons research facility, founded in 1947.
In 1959, a group of Indian delegates unknowingly brought in a new type of smallpox to the Soviet Union and scientists here studied the disease.

In 1967, the strain of 'Indian-1967', also known as 'Indian-1', was transferred to India by medical experts to help the country deal with the disease. Currently, the 'Indian-1' virus is still preserved in this virus center and the area around the center still prohibits outsiders.
Arzamas-16
Arzamas-16 is a Soviet nuclear weapon. For a long time, the area secretly connected no one of their specialists, engineers, technicians and family members to leave this place.

In 1991, Arzamas-16 was renamed Kremlyov, until 1995 called Sarov. Nuclear science research activities continue to be carried out here.
In 1993, the city of Sarov (then called Kremlyov) became the sister city of the city of Los Alamos, USA, where the US nuclear weapons design department.
"Objekt-825 GTS" submarine base
The underground submarine base is located in Balaklava, Crom also known as the Objekt-825 GTS. This is where the Soviet Navy deployed secretly to deploy submarines with the ability to carry out a nuclear attack.

The base could accommodate up to 14 submarines at the same time, started construction in 1957 and has the ability to withstand nuclear explosions with a destructive power of up to 100 kiloton. Today, this submarine base becomes a museum for the public to visit.
Sverdlovsk-45
The secret city of Sverdlovsk-45 was established near the uranium enrichment plant called the Soviet 418 Plant. The plant is responsible for producing uranium for Soviet nuclear weapons, built in 1947.

Sverdlovsk-45 is the top spy target of foreign intelligence. In 1960, the U-2 spy plane controlled by Francis Gary Powers was shot down in a position not far from the city. Today, Sverdlovsk-45 is called Lesnoy and is still a secret area.
Skrunda-1
Skrunda-1, western Latvia, located near the Soviet military area installed two early warning radar stations Dnepr-M and Dnestr-M.
Soviet troops installed these two radar stations around the 1960s to service their ballistic missile detection system.

Two radar stations located near Skrunda-1 cover the whole of Western Europe and can detect any missile launches from this area. Since the 1990s, Skrunda-1 has been completely abandoned.
Soviet naval command base "Objekt-221"
Objekt-221 is near the city of Sevastopol, Crum used to be the Soviet naval backup command base, with more than 10 km of tunnels dug deep into the mountain. This base was built in 1977 and has never been completed.

This base was designed to be able to withstand the attacks from nuclear missiles, fully equipped to serve the entire Black Sea Fleet Command in the event of a nuclear war. .
Vozrozhdeniya Island
Vozrozhdeniya Island is located in the Aral Sea, between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. At first the island had an area of about 200 square kilometers, but in the 1960s when the Soviet Union built a dam to serve agriculture, the island area was expanded.
In 1954, the Soviet Union built an Aralsk-7 bio-weapons test area on the island. In addition, there are some Soviet naval and air force units on the island, along with scientific centers. Activities of these units are still a secret.
