The complex consists of 18 graves that were identified to exist under the Tang Dynasty, dating back to about 1,200 years old today.

According to the researchers, these graves are of a Turkic emperor family, a minority who settled in the western region of the Tang Dynasty.

Archaeologists have unearthed many burial relics, including rare and precious small statues.

The reason the Turkic emperor was buried in Xian was because during that period the emperor held a hostage in the territory of the Tang people to keep peace.
