Professor Chris Austin, from the University of Louisiana and a member of the research team, thinks that tiny frogs are adapted to food chains that are not exploited by larger carnivores.

'New Guinea is an island with a very diverse ecosystem. All that we have just discovered helps us better understand the biodiversity of this island, 'said Dr. Chris Austin.
In the survey on the island of Papua New Guinea, scientists also discovered another new frog named Paedophryne swiftorum . This frog has a body size ranging from 8.3 to 8.9mm.
