A Chinese citizen caught a salamander weighing up to 7.6 kg with a length of nearly 1.3 meters. Experts say this is the largest ever found in this country.

After receiving the news of the people, Nguyen Lang district police quickly seized the rare salamander. According to a report by Hunan police, salamanders have a length of up to 1.25 m and weigh about 7.6 kg (while normal salamanders are only 2.7 to 20 cm long).

Experts say this is the largest salamander ever discovered in China. Giant salamanders (scientific name Andrias davidianus) can weigh up to 65 kg and 1.8 m long. However, due to changes in the environment and climate, large salamanders are rare and do not reach the maximum size anymore.

Last year a resident of Longtan town, Quxian district, Sichuan province also caught an Andrias davidianus salamander but it was only about 1.1 meters long.

Xinhua quoted scientists as saying that the Chinese giant salamander developed at the same time as dinosaurs, so they are called " swimming fossils ." They are extremely amphibious animals. rare worldwide.

In China, most salamanders are now nourished by humans. In nature, people rarely see salamanders reaching a length of 1 meter.
