Discovered the 4,500 year old sphinx in Egypt

Experts say the statue has some similarities to the Great Sphinx of Giza and the excavation process will be difficult.

The road construction project between the ancient temple Karnak and Luxor in Luxor, Egypt, must be halted when construction workers discover a sphinx statue, Sun reported on August 9. A large statue with a lion and a human head may appear around 2500 BC, under the Pharaoh Khafre dynasty.

Sphinx is a famous creature in Egyptian mythology. The Egyptian sphinx often carries a male face while in Greece it is usually female. Egyptian sphinxes are described as honest and possess great power. They are guarded and guarded and are often placed outside the entrance to the temple.

Khaled al Anani, Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, encouraged people to visit and admire the new discovery. The statue is still in the ground, but experts have prepared several plans to dig up, according to Mohamed Abdel Aziz, head of the antiquities agency in Luxor.

Excavation may require more time due to the age of the statue and the risk of damaging it after thousands of years. Abdel Aziz confirmed the statue has similarities with the Great Sphinx of 20 meters high in Giza.
