Archaeologists have unearthed the body of a buried young witch from about 1,600 years ago.

The woman was found lying face down on the ground, her left hand was bent behind her back - a fourth was used to bury witches to ensure that they did not return from the dead and haunt the villagers.

The skeleton of this 25-year-old woman was unearthed in the village of Lehedzyne, central Ukraine.

Most women who are considered witches are often old but sometimes young women are also accused of possessing magic, often when they have a relationship with married men or when they are sexually abused. by an influential person.

The woman was only 25 when she was buried.

Usually, the man will declare that he is "fascinated" by the love of the young woman's love. Then, that woman will have to die.

Objects such as ceramic pots, ceramic plates and leftovers in the grave are typical of the tradition of burial in the local culture in the third and fourth centuries AD.

But according to the latest discovery by archaeologist Borys Mahomedov and Serhiy Didenko, in the tomb there are no traditional items that mark this as a tomb at the time of this cursed woman.

This is the first time such a grave has been found in this area.

Mr. Mahomedov of the Institute of Archeology, the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, said: 'This woman lives in the era of Chernyakhov culture . Her tomb is different from the burial tradition that existed in this area in the 3rd and 4th century AD '.

Chernyakhov is a strongly developed archaeological culture between the 2nd and 5th centuries AD in a large area of ​​Eastern Europe, especially in Ukraine, Romania, Moldova and parts of Belarus.
