Discovering a ship full of gold in the Caribbean?
Dr. E. Lee Spence, a famous German archaeologist, has discovered a shipwreck from the 19th century in a survey off the coast of South Carolina, USA.
In the survey, Dr. E. Lee Spence and colleagues found the remains of a 19th-century steamboat named SS Ozama . This ship is 66 meters long, iron shell and has a very remarkable history.

Dr. E. Lee Spence said: "We have used special methods to find the ship. Its size, engine parameters and outstanding features have been revealed."
Launched in Scotland in 1881 as Craigallion , the Caribbean ship and helped build the Panama Canal.
The ship was crashed in Bahamas in 1885 and was renamed Ozama after a river in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
In 1894, on the way to the city of Charleston, South Carolina, USA, the ship crashed into shoals off Cape Romain (also in South Carolina) and sank.
Because there was a lot of wild smuggling past (gold and guns), the explorers suspected that some of the big gold was still hidden inside the shipwreck or buried in nearby sand.
According to the Examiner, the discovery of American explorers stirred up the media. Interestingly, this is not the first time people have discovered this ship.
Dr. E. Lee Spence will begin the wreck exploration after mapping the location, as well as the ship's structure, ensuring the integrity of the hull. In addition to the precious things, Ozama can also bring a treasure of precious history.
It is worth mentioning that if there is really gold inside this ship, they will belong to the US government.
