Discovering extremely rare albino dolphins

Brazilian biologists have found an extremely rare albino dolphin off the southern coast of South America.

The team at Univille University in Santa Catarina on December 1 said it was the first time that an individual albino in the pontoporia blainvillei - the dolphins is very shy and rarely jumps out of the water.

In Brazil it is called the Toninha , and in Argentina and Uruguay it is called La Plata or Franciscana.

Camilla Meirelles Sartori - head of research project Toninha, said she saw this special dolphin for the first time in late October and by early November, her group took a picture of it.

'We were shocked and shocked. It's very small, and its color is really different, ' she said.

Toninha is currently on the list of endangered species. This species has a long, thin and very easily caught nose. They can drown or die from stress if not quickly released.
