Bret Philbrick's first lobster caught at Owls Head on September 4 and the second was discovered by Joe Bates near a breakwater in Rockland the day before.
According to scientists, albino lobsters are extremely rare. Their appearance rate is 1/100 million.
Two lobsters will be transferred to their new home at the Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay Harbor and Brooks Mill Trap at Thomaston.
In the US, lobster fishermen often have to follow very strict rules. Fishermen will have to measure the size of caught lobsters to determine their age. Those that are too small will be released to the sea to protect biodiversity.
However, although not enough standard size, two albino lobsters are still allowed by the marine patrol forces to retain them because of their rare and precious properties.
