Video: Rare albino dolphin in America

An albino dolphin was discovered on the east coast of Florida, USA, marking the 15th time humans have seen this rare individual in the past half century.

Danielle Carter, a Florida wildlife conservation volunteer, recorded an albino dolphin nose on December 10. According to UPI, the State Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWS) uploads videos to YouTube, but does not reveal the exact location where this rare species was discovered.

"We think this is a rare and worthwhile case to share. But we can't give the exact location to protect the dolphin," the Florida Today quoted Brandon Basino, a FWS spokesman. Meanwhile, Carter said she spotted a fish swimming in the eastern state of Florida.

According to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this is the 15th albino dolphin nose sighting since 1962 to date.

Bottled dolphins are usually gray, but mutations in the gene will make them white and pink eyes. Albinism in dolphins is caused by the genes of both parents and may impair vision. Color differences and highlights can make them more vulnerable to attack than others.
