Dogs remember the name 1,022 objects

The Chaser dog, belonging to the poodle, is said to be quite intelligent because of its ability to know the name of 1,022 objects, according to the report published in Behavioural Processes.

The Chaser has been trained intensively for several hours a day for three years, in order to respond to oral commands by bringing a specific object between many other objects.

On January 7, Dr. Alliston Reid and John Pilley - professor of psychology at Wofford School in South Carolina State (USA), who performed the experiment - said the dog did not just remember the name of 1,022 things like fruit. balls, stuffed animals . but also classify them by function and shape, something that 3-year-olds can do. As a result, Chaser gives the requesters balls of different sizes and colors, located between many different objects.

Researchers believe that Chaser remembers many objects because of the intensity of continuous training without the need for rewards as food whenever it succeeds in training. Chaser also broke the dog record of Rico with the ability to identify the names of 200 objects in 2004, according to researchers at the Max Planck Institute in Germany.
