Drinking tea against ovarian cancer
A couple of cups of black or green tea a day can prevent ovarian cancer - a Swedish study of 61,000 women confirmed.
Scientists at Karolinska Research Institute have investigated the habits and health of tens of thousands of women aged 40 to 76 years. Two-thirds of these people have a habit of drinking black or green tea.
The results showed that, compared to those who did not drink tea, "the risk of developing ovarian cancer decreased by 46% in those who drank at least 2 cups a day," study leader Susanna Larsson said, "just add 1 cup tea is reduced by 18% ". At the end of the study, more than 300 women with ovarian cancer - mostly those who did not have the habit of drinking tea daily.
Black and green tea contains natural antioxidant polyphenol compounds such as catechin, theaflavin, thearubigin and flavanol. They effectively prevent cell mutations leading to cancer.
The team did not find a link between coffee and the risk of ovarian cancer.
