Driving device for the hearing impaired

If the driver is drunk with a mobile phone, do not listen to the left turn or turn right from the navigation system, they can still get directions from the steering wheel.

A device developed by researchers at the University of Utah, can pull the driver's finger skin to the left or right to remind them.

Researchers say the device does not encourage distracted driving while listening to cell phones, which makes driving a car and a deaf driver safer.

The device works quite simply: during driving, each driver's finger is placed on a red button. When the car drivers signal the left or right turn, the buttons on the touch panel move to gently pull the driver's finger skin in the direction they should move: left or right.

' This system helps the deaf to get navigational information through the fingers and can also be used to make directional sticks to help the blind move easily. ' - Nate Medeiros - Ward, one of the authors of the study, said.

It is known that the team is patenting the product and commercializing the device for other potential applications.
