Earn $ 20 million annually with Photoshop

Few people become millionaires when writing books to computers because the field is constantly growing and the life of the work will be shortened. But Scott Kelby succeeded in seeing Photoshop as a passion and wanted to share everything he discovered with readers.

Many books by Kelby, 44 years old Florida (USA), topped the Nielsen BookScan ranking. In addition, Kelby publishes a magazine, posting podcasts every week, hosting seminars and running a 65,000-member association. All involve a single topic: Adobe Photoshop software.

Kelby used to be a musician who wrote rock but moved after 12 years opening a graphic design shop with his wife. Initially, he wrote articles for Apple Macintosh lovers. After that, Kelby decided to publish a book about interesting things using Photoshop image processing software called Down and Dirty Photoshop Tricks.

More than 22,000 books were sold and Kelby signed a publishing contract with Peachpit Press. His other two best selling works are The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers (350,000 copies) and The iPod Book: Doing Cool Stuff with the iPod and the iTunes Music Store (275,000 copies).

Kelby has a close relationship with Adobe Systems and he always receives a new version of Photoshop a few months earlier.

Kelby said the benefits for Adobe would also benefit him and vice versa. However, he is still forced to mention the defects of Photoshop, otherwise his reputation will be reduced.

" If Kelby doesn't like any of the software's features, he will frankly say it, " said John Loiacono, Adobe Creative Solutions director. " It is his privilege to say whatever he wants ."

And Marvin Derezin, a professor at UCLA (USA), said he was always sleepy at seminars, but could hear Kelby preach all day. Derezin is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals led by Kelby.

According to Matt Wagner, representing the computer science writers in New York (USA), Kelby succeeds by providing background knowledge but useful to users. Meanwhile, books on computing technology do not sell well because there is too much information on the Internet, and high-end books are usually sold for $ 5,000 - $ 15,000 and only a few authors can make a profit.
