Earth has just escaped the 'terrorist' from 4 asteroids

CNEOS is tasked with tracking the sky to detect potentially dangerous asteroids. However, they cannot monitor it all because of the large space in the sky, so we can easily explain why two of the four asteroids were discovered only on January 1.

  1. Asteroid 2020 AC has a diameter of about 27 m and moves 21,000 km / h. It leads the asteroid group flying through the earth at 1:56 am EST (Eastern Standard Time)
  2. Next is the asteroid 2020 AD with a diameter of 22 m, moving 56,000 km / h that rocked the earth at 4:12 am EST.
  3. The asteroid YH2 2019 , the largest in the group with a diameter of 140m and a velocity of 52,000 km / h, traverses the earth at 4:36 am EST.
  4. Finally, the asteroid 2019 AE3 , with a diameter of 22 m, with a speed of 29,000 km / h, flies over the earth at 09h8 EST.

2020 AD and 2019 YH2 are classified as Apollo asteroids, with very wide orbits, while 2020 AC and 2019 AE3 are Aten asteroids, meaning their main semi-axis is smaller than the earth.

2020 AD comes closest to the earth at a distance of only 895,000 km (for reference, the moon is 385,000 km from us). YH2 2019, surpassing us at a distance of about 2,900,000 km.

So fortunately the Earth has avoided a major explosion in early 2020 but does not know when the next asteroid will reach our planet.
