Eclipse image from the universe

When the moon moved between the sun and an artificial satellite in the universe a few days ago, the satellite camera recorded that rare sight.

Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), the solar observing satellite of the US Aerospace Agency (NASA), has sent a solar eclipse in the universe. The scene happens when the moon obscures part of the sun on March 11.

In the next three weeks, the earth will move between the sun and SDO for a period of time each day. So the eclipse scene will recur.

SDO flies to space to observe the sun in 2010. According to the plan, it will operate for 5 years. Over the years it has sent huge amounts of data to Earth, including many extremely impressive photos of the sun.
