Fiona Wishart, a female ranger in Falkirk County, Scotland, discovered an egg mushroom with a circumference of 1.5 meters while traveling near Polmont on October 17, according to the BBC.
Wishart had to ask a colleague to help bring the mushroom back to the office. After taking souvenir photos, they split the mushroom for 15 people to bring back to processing.
"This is the biggest mushroom mushroom I have ever discovered in my life. It tastes great. When cut, it has a marshmallow-like texture. We are lucky to find it in perfect condition." , Wishart shared.
Egg mushrooms occur during the late summer to the end of autumn, often growing in shrubs and grasslands. The largest mushroom mushroom in the UK has a circumference of 1.62 meters, according to the Kew Royal Botanic Gardens. Mushrooms are very popular with ancient Greeks and Romans thanks to their high nutritional value.
