Egyptian mummy wearing an intact mask after more than 1,600 years

Archaeologists discovered an ancient Egyptian mummy wearing an intact yellow and green burial mask after more than 1,600 years.

The mummy dates back to the Greek-Roman period (from 332 BC to 395) was found in good condition with linen wrapped around the corpse. A traditional burial mask with yellow and green papyrus covered the mummy's face, the figure depicting Khebr, the god of the sky, according to the International Business Times.

The chest of the mummy painted the image of Isis, one of the oldest goddesses of ancient Egypt, while the body of the corpse was painted white wooden soles.

The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities announced the discovery of the Egyptian archaeological team - Russia works at Deir al-Banat in Fayoum on November 14. The wooden coffin containing mummies was found in a state of imperfection, without the inscription on the bottom and the lid being broken in some places due to widespread cracks.

Dr. Mohamed Abdellatif, assistant minister of Antiquities, said archaeologists lost 7 years of excavation before finding the mummy. Both the mummy and the coffin need emergency storage before moving to storage.
