This LCD monitor can produce 8 46-inch TV screens or 6 50-inch TV screens. The amount of investment capital does not include real estate prices. Currently S-LCD has produced 7G series in Tangjeong, ChungCheongNam-Do, Korea.

As planned, the plant will start operating in the fall of 2007, with a monthly production capacity of about 50,000 screens. Samsung and Sony will split the number of these products in half, then use them to produce for their own TVs or sell them to other manufacturers.

Along with the current 7G line, the 8G line production plan will help both corporations expand the production of large-size LCD screens for 50-inch LCD TVs, the type of TV that is expected to have revenue growth. Significant therefore requires a stable supply.

Currently, consumer demand for LCD TVs is increasing. Samsung has raised its estimates of worldwide demand for LCD TVs to 48 million, more than 4 million from the previous estimate. Samsung also sold 1.2 million LCD TVs in the second quarter, four times the same period last year.
