End of flight simulation 520 days to Mars

According to Reuters, six members of the international crew on November 4 appeared from a Moscow space research facility after spending 520 days of isolation in the framework of a project to simulate a real flight. Mars is worth $ 15 million.

Since June 2010, this crew has been put into live in four closed modules that simulate the psychological and physiological effects of interplanetary travel, except for non-weight status.

Stepping out from the simulated spacecraft, the crew, consisting of members of Europe, Russia and China, looked pale but still healthy. During the adjustment for adapting to the outside life, they will undergo a few days of health checks.

In the last 520 days, this crew only eats canned food and is only allowed to communicate with the outside world via email that is often delayed and or interrupted so as to resemble a real flight.

Researchers hope the experiment will bring valuable knowledge about how to make a real flight to Mars.
