Equipment for preserving agricultural products using sunlight

Due to the inability to equip agricultural product preservation systems, products produced by farmers in developing countries are susceptible to damage - which means their profits are also declining. The good news is that Wakati Company (Belgium) has launched a system of preserving agricultural products with cheap solar energy , helping to increase the storage time of fruits and vegetables.

The Wakati name system has a capacity of up to 150 kg of farm produce equipped with a 3W solar cell at the top. Inside, the design team added an extra ventilation system and provided about 200ml of water a week to create moisture and maintain freshness for the vegetables.

According to the founder of Arne Pauwels, the wet environment created by the device preserves the freshness of post-harvest agricultural produce. Wakati's performance test results show that fresh fruits are only fresh 1-2 days in hot weather that can stay fresh for up to 10 days.

It is reported that after shipment of the first 100 Wakati to Haiti, Uganda and Afghanistan, Pauwels' company is preparing to produce the device in large quantities, at a cost of $ 100 per unit.
