Lausanne Polytechnic University's team of experts has presented a prototype of a new device, only 14mm long, capable of immediately checking 5 different types of substances in the blood.

The results will be 'fired' on the doctor's phone, using Bluetooth technology.

It is designed to be inserted into the skin, like a needle, in the slit tissue beneath the skin in the abdomen, legs or arms.

And the device can stay in place for months before it is time to replace or remove it.

While other researchers are also implementing similar health monitoring tools, team leader Sandro Carrara said the group's device is unique because it can simultaneously measure many different markers. .

This is particularly useful for tracking patients with chronic diseases such as high cholesterol and diabetes, as well as monitoring the effects of the currently used treatment, such as chemotherapy.

The Swiss expert team hopes the device will be ready to hit the market in four years.
