The report of the European Statistical Agency (Eurostat) announced on March 10, said the European Union (EU) has achieved a steady step towards the goal of 2020, renewable energy sources will accounting for 20% of total energy consumption of the whole continent.

The EU leader in this area is Sweden, Latvia and Finland. While England and the Netherlands together with Luxembourg and Malta proved to be "lagging" , when the renewable energy ratio of the four countries was only 4.2%, 4.5%, 3.1% and in turn. 1.4% of total energy consumption.

When the consumption of renewable energy began to be set in 2004, the consumption of wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal and biomass (biomass) . only accounted for 8.3% across the EU. . Renewable energy was produced and consumed the most in 2004 and 2012 with the leading countries of Sweden, Denmark and Austria. In France, a great effort was also made when in the past 8 years, the country's renewable energy rate has increased from 9.3% to 13.4%.

The European Commission (EC) affirmed that the EU will achieve its overall goal that by 2020, the rate of renewable energy accounts for 20% of total energy consumption, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20%. and saving 20% of energy consumption as efforts to help prevent global warming.

Meanwhile, for its part, the EC aims to reduce emissions to 40% compared to 1990, in addition to increasing the rate of renewable energy utilization to 27% and saving 25% of energy consumption.
