Find ways to use renewable energy in Vietnam

Experts and many young people gathered to discuss the use of renewable energy to cope with the risk of fossil fuel exhaustion.

>>>Breakthroughs in renewable energy technology

According to the experts at the seminar "Energy efficiency and efficiency in Vietnam" held last weekend, the energy consumption is increasing, while the energy source is increasingly exhausted. . Therefore energy is becoming a matter of primary concern not only in Vietnam but also in the world.

Professor Pham Duy Hien, former deputy director of the National Atomic Energy Institute, said that the annual electricity growth in Vietnam is 13-14%, but the new economic growth is about 6-7%. Thus, the growth rate of electricity is double that of the economic growth rate, while in other countries is equal.

"Compared to other countries in the world, our country consumes 1kwh of electricity but only produces goods worth 1 USD, while the Philippines makes 2 USD, South Korea 3 USD, Japan is 4 USD" , Professor Hien said. .

According to Mr. Pham Duy Hien, in the context of climate change, Vietnam needs to have effective solutions, including new and renewable energy sources. However, this energy source in Vietnam has not been noticed.

"Renewable energy is a sustainable energy source, because fossil energy will soon be exhausted in the coming time," Hien said.

Ms. Nadia Charady, Director of Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung organization in Hanoi said: 'The pressure on fossil energy sources is running out, many countries have to look for alternative energy sources. People were able to exploit clean energy sources such as wind, solar, geothermal, tidal and biomass. In addition to seeking alternative energy, energy efficiency and conservation is an effective solution '.

Participating in the seminar was the participation of many young people. Mr. Hoang Duc Minh, director of the Environment and Climate Change Awareness Program (RAECP), said this is an opportunity for young people to improve their understanding of human energy issues that they are facing. face, thereby promoting action and offering solutions to save energy.

Vietnam is considered a country with potential for renewable energy. Regarding solar radiation, Vietnam has up to 2,000 to 2,500 hours of sunlight per year, with solar radiation of 150 Cal / cm 2 / year. In the wind, in the central region, the island has an average wind speed of 4m / s at a height of 12m, which can install wind turbines. Geothermal power has more than 300 sources of hot mineral water in the Northwest and Central Vietnam.

The seminar was organized by Vietnam Green Generation Network in cooperation with the Center for Living and Learning for Environment and Community (Live & Learn) and Rosa Luxemburg Institute (Germany).
