Europe will lead the way in performance computers

The five largest computer industry groups in Europe, including Bull, CEA, HLRS, Intel and Quadrics, have just launched the Talos project to develop high-performance computer software solutions.

Accelerate the development of new computer-performance software solutions that are intended to be taken to European computer centers. These centers will be the first application of high-performance computer software solutions.

Project Talos by the five largest computer industry groups in Europe includes Bull, CEA (Department of Atomic Energy Monitoring), HLRS (German National Center for High-Performance Computers), Intel and Quadrics (Center provide high-performance network solutions) alliance together.

Picture 1 of Europe will lead the way in performance computers Talos was born targeting two main objectives: First , bringing the technological challenges of information storage capacity management into applications at major computer centers in Europe. Second , provide expertise and research applications for high-performance computer software solutions for the industry.

Implementing these two goals will bring Europe to the top position in performance computers. Five allied European industrial computer groups will have to come up with new computer solutions and software software solutions.

The Talos project development will become one of Europe's PF7 programs (PF7-7 important program) or will be added to Europe's 8th important program (PF-8).

PF7 was approved by the Council of Europe (EC) on November 18, 2006. PF7 is the door to open scientific research and technological development in the period of 2007-2013 and nuclear research activities (Euratom) to 2011 of Europe.

The PF7 program invested 53.2 billion euros in 7 years. Budget allocated for PF7 is 3 times greater than PF6. This huge amount of capital is mainly aimed at technology development studies until 2013.

PF7 is Europe's big ambition to invest in economic growth and high-tech development. However, until now, funding for Talos project is still being kept secret. It is expected that in the second quarter of 2007, this capital will be decided and announced by the European Budget Committee.

With the Talos project, in the future, Europe will find its leading position in the world market of performance computers.
