Eye of the music
Researchers at the Hebrew University (Israel) have created an Eyemusic device that uses music to convey visual information that makes visually impaired people easier to work with.
The device consists of a pair of glasses, an attached camcorder that connects the headset. Headphones deliver sound to the scalp of the user, not to the ear.
The camera scans the landscape from the left to the right of the user, then translates it into the audio output. This sound is a short passage through headphones.
The brightness of each pixel is translated into sound. Different colors are played with different instruments such as blue is the trumpet, the yellow is the violin or the black is the no sound.
Products can help visually impaired people either in shopping or playing video games.
