Sad songs make us feel happier
Many people are afraid of sad songs because they think they will push their moods low, but one study proves the opposite.

Perhaps the majority of people in the world think that sad songs and songs will cause feelings of depression and sadness. A previous study, conducted by psychologists from the University of Missouri in the US, affirmed that people should listen to funny music works if we want to overcome boredom, Telegraph reported.
"But, if that's true, why do billions of people still love sad music works?" , Ai Kawakami, a psychologist of Tokyo University in Japan asked questions.
To find out, Kawakami and his colleagues asked 44 volunteers - including musicians and non-musicians - to listen to two sad songs and a funny song. Each volunteer then describes how they feel about their music and emotions.
The results showed that most volunteers felt happier after listening to two sad songs. Meanwhile, their level of happiness hardly changed after they heard the funny music.
The team thinks that sad songs can make people think of romantic movies or situations. Those things make us feel happier.
"This finding helps us explain the popularity of sad music , " Kawakami said.
