Facebook applies AI to accurately translate foreign language content

Facebook once again use high-level AI to develop its platform. This time, instead of being brain-dead , Facebook is actively using AI to help users translate language faster and more accurately when surfing this social network.

According to a post from an official blog, Facebook's AI research team has shifted the entire translation work to AI. The Applied Machine Learning team has trained artificial intelligence to better understand difficult concepts such as slang or spelling to provide more accurate translations to the user.

Facebook's AI research team has translated the entire translation work into AI.

They use an artificial neural network called the CNN, which is not a popular choice for language translation. Another approach commonly used by companies is the recurrent neural-network.

The fundamental difference between the two artificial neural networks lies in the fact that recurrent neural-networks can only handle tasks in turn, while CNN allows processing of all data at the same time. Apparently, CNN will consume more system resources to run, but it's already 2017 and our hardware system is strong enough to support such stressful tasks.

The new product translates to better than before, instead of translating every single sentence - sometimes the product is patchy, even meaningless - now the algorithm will translate one word and try to find. Another word is equivalent or similar. Even if a word in the original does not exist in the target language, Facebook will still try to make it the easiest to understand.

Ended Elon Musk threatened AI to create their own language, Facebook continues to use AI to develop the platform.

Facebook's Applied Machine Learning team makes communication between people who do not speak the same language seamless, easy, and convenient when users do not have to use Google Translate or other translation tools. with the 2 billion users of this social network able to share and connect despite language and cultural barriers.
