According to Voigt, the remains of this vertebrate are found in an open-cast quarry in Bochum. They were identified as fossils of an animal that lived 316 million years ago on the banks of a large river, which flowed through the area currently the Ruhr region.
Daniela Schwarz Wings from the Berlin Museum of Natural Nature said that this is the fossil of a four-legged reptile, and the date of these fossils makes scientists particularly interested. From here, scientists can determine how many such animals were popular in Europe and how long they exist.
On June 17, experts will provide fossil samples to the Museum of Natural Studies at Munster, then the fossil will be on display at the German Mining Museum in Bochum.
