Finding tyrannical dinosaurs in the southern hemisphere

Historically, scientists have argued that tyrannical dinosaurs only develop in the northern hemisphere, but the discovery of dinosaurs in Australia has opened a new page in the evolutionary path of the dense reptile this special.

Scientists from Cambridge, London and Melbourne have discovered the first evidence of a tyrant dinosaur appearing on the southern continents through a piece of bone near the hip found in Dinosaur Cove in Victoria state, Australia.

A 30cm long bone-shaped piece looks like a stick with a flat end connected to the hip, the other end looks like a shoe.

Dr. Roger Benson, of Earth Sciences, Cambridge University, said: "The bone belongs to the tyrant dinosaur, because it has a very different hip bone."

The bone fragment shows that, about 110 million years ago, there was a small tyrant dinosaur.

Dr Paul Barret, a paleontologist at the London Museum of Natural History, commented: "The appearance of the dinosaurs in the southern continents is very unusual. They represent the dinosaurs group. The North appeared in the South, and this tyrant dinosaur could have reached places like this in the early stages of evolution, and the possibility of other species still being discovered in Africa, South America and India. ".

According to Dr. Benson, this dinosaur is about 3 meters tall and weighs about 80kg. They also have big heads and small forelimbs - the characteristic of tyrants.

The newly discovered species is smaller than many emperor dinosaurs up to 12m tall and weighs about 4 tons.

The small tyrant dinosaur appeared in the early Cretaceous period, about 110 million years ago while the imperial tyrant lived in the Cretaceous period, about 70 million years ago.

During the dinosaur phase of development on the Earth, the continental plates were separated from a single supercontinent to become continents like today.

The newly discovered dinosaurs may be located in the middle of the ruptured continent, which is now the southern continent, including South America, Antarctica, Africa and Australia, while the continents on the North is not separate (Europe and Asia, North America).

Why is it only in the northern hemisphere, the new tyrant dinosaurs evolve into giant carnivores, but not in the south? According to Dr. Benson, you need to wait for further evidence to get an answer.
