Fitow stormed into Japan, 52 injured

In the early morning of September 7, Hurricane Fitow made landfall in Japan, killing 1 person, missing one person and at least 52 people were injured. Heavy rain caused by storms also flooded hundreds of houses and caused widespread power outages. This is the ninth storm in Japan this year.

According to the local authorities, the storm hit near Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture at 2 am 6-9 (local time, or 0g Vietnam time). More than 200 domestic flights and about 20 international flights canceled.

Due to the impact of the storm, the express train service connecting Tokyo and Nagoya had to be suspended temporarily, while the rail and subway services in Tokyo were also interrupted. Some highways in Tokyo, Yamanashi, Kanagawa and Shizuoka also temporarily stop traffic.

A total of 52 people were injured in areas near the storm, including Tokyo, Kanagawa, Shizuoka and Tochigi. The Japan Meteorological Agency warned people to guard against strong winds and heavy rain.

At Yokohama port in Kanagawa, due to the effects of high winds, this morning, two cargo ships crashed into each other. According to Kyodo news agency, there are no casualties.

Forecasting Fitow stormed northeast, passed through Honshu island and then headed to Hokkaido. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, at 10 am (local time), the storm is located about 30 km southwest of Fukushima and is moving north-northeast, 35 km per hour.
