The Japanese government has issued a warning to evacuate more than one million people, destroying nearly 800 flights, leaving about 3,000 tourists stranded. Flood waters in some areas reached the highest level since the storm in 1961, while many runways of Osaka's Kansai International Airport were deep. Shikoku, the smallest of Japan's four main islands, also experienced landslides.

Typhoon Jebi is about 100km west of northwestern Sado town in Niigata province and is moving north-northeast. Wind power at Shikoku island reaches 208km / h. Tokyo is not located near the center of the storm, but there is still heavy rain and strong wind.
