According to the Sri Lankan Center for Disaster Control (DMC), after the sweep of Mahasen, about 7,400 people of nearly 2,000 households were evacuated due to the impact of floods.
Heavy rain for more than two days hindered traffic here and caused DMC to issue a landslide warning for many areas.
Ahead of the bad developments of Typhoon Mahasen in Sri Lanka, neighboring Bangladesh has raised the alert to level 7 and demanded that all boats in the southeastern city of Chittagong return to their hideouts until only the next religion.
The Mahasen storm is expected to land on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border area on dawn today, causing waves of 1-2 meters high in the lowlands and offshore islands.
Hundreds of thousands of people from both countries have been asked to evacuate, with Myanmar expected to evacuate to 166,000 people.
According to the United Nations warning, this tornado could affect more than 8 million people, including Bangladesh, Myanmar and Northeast India.
Worried about the strong Mahasen storm situation and continuing to move inland, Myanmar said Myanmar's historic visit to the US by U Thein Sein may be delayed due to the disaster.
