Flash mysterious radio waves from the universe

Strange radio waves discovered from the Auriga constellation last only a few milliseconds, sparking the hypothesis that they were emitted by aliens to contact Earth.

The team at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, discovered radio waves using the Green Bank telescope in West Virginia, USA and the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, Science News on Dec. 21.

"We detected an additional 6 radio waves from the same source . 5 flashes with the Green Bank telescope at 2 GHz, one at the Arecibo Observatory at 1.4 GHz, increasing the total number of flashes. The wave emitted from this source is 17 " , the team led by Paul Scholz presented in a report published in Astrophysics.

Although many flashes are captured, their origin remains a mystery to scientists. According to the team, regardless of the cause of the radio waves, it is not a single-event event such as an explosion or a collision. Instead, they were more likely to see light emanating from a young neutron star, the solid core remaining after a star exploded, causing a flash.

"Whether repeating radio waves is repeating or not, its characteristic plays an important role in understanding the radio waves transmitting rapidly between galaxies in a very short time , " the study authors conclude. comment.

In the previous flash detection, astronomers asked the SET for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) to consider whether it was an alien message.
