The group of pilots preparing to fly around the world for the first time with solar powered aircraft has officially announced their route. The flight is expected to last 5 months and stop in 12 cities around the world.

Co-founder of Solar Impulse 2, pilot Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg, recently announced at an event in Abu Dhabi that they plan to begin their journey from Abu Dhabi in late February or early March. From here, they will travel through 35,000km, and stop at 12 cities.

Solar Impulse group has been studying for years to be able to make long flights without using fossil fuels such as gasoline and oil. Solar Impulse's journey around the world will be done in 5 months with 25 flight days. The speed of the aircraft will be in the range of 50 to 100km / h.
"We will complete the first round-the-world flight with solar powered aircraft to prove that solar power can do extraordinary things , " Piccard said.
Piccard also expressed ambition by declaring, if the plane had a problem that made this journey unsuccessful, his team would build another plane to continue conquering.
At each stop, Piccard's team will hold talks with local industry representatives and students, who will arrange for people to explore the plane and set up a Google Hangouts line to promote the journey.
