From 2 porcupines drowning, discover precious objects of VND 120 million
Medieval treasures appeared after the British couple drained the pond.
A retired couple has found an extremely rare 12th-century stone basin after draining its pond, the Daily Mail reported.
The couple lived in Dorset, England, decided to suck water out of the pond after the two hedgehogs drowned in it.
Stone pots from the 12th century are extremely rare.
The couple also found supporting the stone basin.
Stone pots carved with birds, mythical animals and leaves.
Initially, the couple thought the stone basin was the concrete border of the pond. But when they dug deep into the pond, medieval treasures appeared.
After cleaning up the surrounding area, the couple also found supporting the stone basin buried in the nearby rose garden.
According to experts, the pot may date from the end of the 12th century and comes from Italy. However, it is unclear why the pot is buried in the bottom of the pond.
When the pot was auctioned off at Duke's auction room, it reached a final price of £ 3,000 (90 million). Plus additional fees, the pot costs £ 4,000 (VND 120 million).
